Michigan "Non Compliant" Health Insurance Plans Still Available After Open Enrollment

After the Affordable Health Care Act open enrollment was over here in Michigan, confusing is still making its way around.

While it is true that you cannot get a compliant plan (without a special election enrollment), their are options if you are in need of health insurance within the state of Michigan.

Consumers can apply for a six month short term plan.  At this point, that would take you in to the next open enrollment in November.

So what are the pro’s and con’s to a short term plan?  Con’s are numerous.  One, they are non compliant.  This means even if you decided to get coverage on yourself now, you will stay have to pay the fine for not buying a compliant plan during past open enrollment.

What is a pro?  Well if you truly need coverage and missed the open enrollment period, well you still get health insurance.
